Supplier Excellence Project - Lockheed Martin Corporation
Pragmatic Consulting, Inc. is an approved supplier for Lockheed Martin. Despite Lockheed’s robust Supplier Excellence Program and dedicated internal staff, we were engaged to serve as a liaison between the corporation and a small supplier to improve performance ratings.
This project was implemented at Marine Electronic Systems (MES), a sole-source supplier on a government contract for the U.S. Coast Guard, awarded jointly by General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin. MES had received a substandard rating, prompting the need for targeted intervention.
Working closely with senior-level OEM managers and MES leadership, we guided the supplier toward full compliance with Lockheed Martin's LM21 Lean Program. One key deliverable was the simplification of Lockheed's 79-page Quality Manual into a streamlined 29-page version tailored for MES—making implementation practical and effective.
In addition, we developed and trained MES's financial and reporting structures to meet the stringent requirements of the OEM Program Office. Internally, we applied Lean principles to optimize and streamline their manufacturing processes.
Outcome: MES successfully met all program requirements and continued to operate well beyond the delivery of the Coast Guard contract—demonstrating sustained performance and alignment with Lockheed Martin's standards.
