Lean Implementation Project - General Electric Co.
We conducted a Lean Six Sigma project in collaboration with senior management at a major division of GE, which employs approximately 5,000 people. Our initiative focused on two operational subsections comprising over 700 employees.
Through targeted training, we identified key areas for improvement and performed value stream mapping of the current state. A cross-functional implementation team was then formed to design and execute a future-state model, resulting in over $2.9 million in savings across the first two critical business areas.
As the final phase of the project, Pragmatic Consulting transitioned ownership of the Lean Six Sigma process to GE's internal implementation team. Lean Six Sigma certifications were awarded at the Black Belt, Green Belt, and Yellow Belt levels.
The financial impact in the two major subassembly areas of the facility was as follows:
| Subassembly Area | Financial Impact |
|---|---|
| Traction Motors | $2,250,000 |
| Grid Blowers | $707,987 |
| Total | $2,957,987 |
